I am an entomologist and evolutionary biologist studying neotropical rove beetles. The descriptive part of my work involves discovering new species and providing traditional and interactive identification keys. This is done in the context of monographic works (revisions) that are important because they synthesize all relevant information for a particular taxon, including data on taxonomy, biology, behavior and biogeography. The historical part of my research involves understanding the phylogenetic relationships between taxa using morphological and molecular data and examining the evolution of several characters such as sexual structures and color.

I also have a strong interest in paleoentomology and I have initiated several projects regarding fossil rove beetles.

I really like the Passport Imaging System so far. The camera and the lenses are superb and it allows me to capture the images I want very fast and efficiently. I like the flexibility of being able to shoot everything from a few mm to several cm using only two lenses. I also like the fact that I know I can ask any questions i have and get quick replies by Visionary digital, clearly the best customer support I ever had.

I plan to take a month-long research trip in May visiting Natural History Museums in Europe and I am taking it with me to photograph types and other important specimens. I will have many pictures to share when I come back.
